The Spectroscopy@IKU - Manipulating and Characterizing Molecular Architectures: from Isolated Molecules to Molecular Crystals project, funded under the HORIZON EUROPE ERA Chairs program, is seeking a highly motivated and qualified PhD. students to conduct advanced research in molecular spectroscopy and related fields.

This project aims to establish a center of excellence in spectroscopy, advancing research in molecular structures, reactivity, and polymorphism in molecular crystals and co-crystals. Our research contributes to addressing critical scientific and societal challenges in atmospheric and astrophysical chemistry, materials science, and molecular physics. Position Details

  • Location: Istanbul Kültür University, Ataköy Campus
  • Field: Physics, Chemistry, Material Sciences or a closely related field
  • Start Date: 12 May 2025
  • Duration: 4 years
  • Funding: Supported within the scope of the Spectroscopy@IKU project

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must hold a Master’s degree in Physics, Chemistry or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated expertise in molecular spectroscopy
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of scientific curiosity
  • Ability to work independently and within an interdisciplinary research environment
  • Excellent scientific writing and communication skills in English 
  • Proven experience with research publications is highly desirable
  • Commitment to publishing research findings in high-impact scientific journals

Responsibilities

  • Conduct collaborative research in molecular spectroscopy, contributing to the core objectives of the Spectroscopy@IKU project
  • Develop and apply advanced spectroscopic methodologies for the characterization of molecular architectures
  • Utilize state-of-the-art experimental and computational facilities for data collection and analysis
  • Support high-quality research publications and contribute to presenting findings at international conferences
  • Assist in the preparation of research project proposals applications

Funding & Benefits

  • Gross salary: €1,700 per month (For PhD. students with an existing contract with any institution, the salary will be €900 per month)
